Contest Overview: 

The Jacksonville Humane Society invites you to submit a picture of your photogenic furry friend! Submit your entry online, by email or by mail starting Monday, Oct. 17, 2011. There is a $10 submission fee. Once your entry has been submitted, encourage your friends and family to vote on your photo ($1 donation per vote). The contest starts on Monday, October 17, and will end on Friday, December 16, 2011 at noon. All proceeds from this contest will benefit the nearly 4,000 animals that pass through the Jacksonville Humane Society each year. 


There are five different categories available:
  • Single Dog – 1st, 2nd and 3rd place entries will become spokes-pets
  • Single Cat – 1st, 2nd and 3rd place entries will become spokes-pets
  • Dog Group (two or more dogs together) – top fundraising entry from this category will become spokes-pets
  • Cat Group (two or more cats together) – top fundraising entry from this category will become spokes-pets
  • Dog & Cat Group (at least one cat and one dog together) – top fundraising entry from this category will become spokes-pets
There will also be a prize for the top overall fundraiser. The top fundraisers will become the spokes-pets for JHS for the 2012 calendar year, and the Top Overall fundraiser will receive special additional recognition. 

Spokes-pets will be included in print and online advertisements, marketing materials and/or general promotions. The official spokes-pets will also receive the VIP treatment as part of a photo shoot by professional photographer Jensen Hande of PhoDOGraphy. Spokes-pets will receive a commemorative portrait from their shoot. The top fundraiser(s) from each category will also receive a gift certificate for JHS’s new Community Animal Hospital. 



Determination of Winners:

  • Contest winners are determined by the number of votes raised in support of their entry. Votes are $1 each with a minimum of $5 per transaction. 
  • A total of ten pets or groups of pets will be selected as the Jacksonville Humane Society spokes-pets for the calendar year 2012.
  • The pet featured in the photo that raises the most money, the second-most money and the third-most money in the Single Dog and Single Cat categories will each be selected as Jacksonville Humane Society spokes-pets for the calendar year 2012. 
  • The pets featured in the photo that raises the most money in the Dog Group, Cat Group and Dog & Cat Group categories will be selected as Jacksonville Humane Society spokes-pets for the calendar year 2012. 
  • The pet(s) featured in the photo that raises the most money overall in the contest will become a Jacksonville Humane Society spokes-pet for the calendar year 2012.

 

Prizes:

  • All pets featured in winning photos will become JHS spokes-pets for the 2012 calendar year, and the Top Overall fundraiser will receive special additional recognition.
  • Spokes-pets will be included in print and online advertisements, marketing materials and/or general promotions and make special guest appearances for the 2012 calendar year.
  • The official spokes-pets will receive the VIP treatment as part of a professional photo shoot with Jensen Hande of PhoDOGraphy.
  • Spokes-pets will receive a commemorative portrait from their photo shoot.
  • The top fundraiser(s) from each category will also receive a gift certificate for JHS’s new Community Animal Hospital.
