Volunteer Program Overview

Our volunteers come from all walks of life: retirees, corporate professionals, responsible teens and families. Whether it’s exercising the dogs or assisting with adoptions, every one of our dedicated and compassionate volunteers play an integral role in the lives of those animals in our care.

Positions are open to qualified student or dedicated volunteers who are interested and committed to providing time and energy to help the Jacksonville Humane Society accomplish our mission.

Stop by JHS today to pick up your volunteer application. Once you have completed and turned in the volunteer application, our Community Outreach Department will contact you within two-three weeks for an interview. During your interview we will collect your volunteer program fee, schedule you for any training classes and determine your schedule. You will also receive a JHS volunteer t-shirt.
