A Life Changing Vision
The goal of the Jacksonville Humane Society capital campaign is simple:
Provide funding for the construction of a world-class animal adoption facility that will enable us to optimize the adoption process and alleviate the homeless pet population.
The Adoption and Multipurpose Building will provide an ideal atmosphere for improving the adoption experience for both people and animals—and will serve as the new home for the Jacksonville Humane Society. Essential to fulfilling our mission, this facility will be a center of progressive pet adoption policies and activities for the entire community. It will also allow us to continue providing valuable programs and services, such as these:
Education is the foundation for successful pet ownership. Programs for adults and children include teaching responsible pet ownership before acquiring a pet, training pets both before and after adoption, and supporting pet owners. Our new building will afford more space and resources for continuing to expand this important part of our work.
People cite behavioral issues as one of the main reasons they surrender their pets. The Jacksonville Humane Society offers training that allows most pets to become positive members of their families, and classes for families who have obtained their pets elsewhere.
We are increasing our concentration on the adoption of mature dogs, which make excellent pets for those needing a pre-trained, easier-to-manage dog. Many of the dogs surrendered are older with established personalities and behaviors. Knowing their traits and dispositions, we are able to find perfect matches for these wonderful animals who are so in need of appropriate homes.
Our new building will increase the capacity of our community to open their homes and lives to the joys of pet ownership. We hope you will join the Jacksonville Humane Society on this exciting journey.
