Jacksonville Humane Society Introduces Camp Paw Prints

Full-day summer childrens’ camp to replace Camp Kindness

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (March 16, 2010) – The Jacksonville Humane Society (JHS) is now accepting registrations for its summer kids’ camp, Camp Paw Prints. The full-day program for children ages 7 – 13 will run from mid-June through mid-August.

“We changed the name of our summer children’s program from Camp Kindness to Camp Paw Prints to better describe the mission of the camp,” said Pamela Javins, JHS director of development. “In Camp Paw Prints, kids will learn to care for dogs and cats while enjoying crafts, games and guest speakers.”

Children participating in Camp Paw Prints will be broken into teams at the beginning of camp. JHS will assign each team a dog to teach basic obedience, feed and water, exercise and groom. Each team’s goal is to get their dog adopted. JHS staff will assign a new dog to a team should that group’s dog get adopted during camp. Kids will keep journals of their experiences during the program.

The cost of Camp Paw Prints is $300 per child per week. All campers receive a T-shirt, goodie bag, snacks, drinks and pizza on Fridays. All activities and materials are included in the price of the camp.

Camp dates include:

  • June 14 – 18
  • June 21 – 25
  • June 28 – July 2
  • July 12 – 16
  • July 19 – 23
  • July 26 – 30
  • Aug. 2 – 6
