The Jacksonville Humane Society Hires Experienced Volunteer Services Manager

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jacksonville Humane Society (JHS) has hired Lynn Williams, a business development professional with more than 20 years of experience, as the organization’s new volunteer services manager.

Williams comes from Amelia Island Plantation where she was an electronic marketing coordinator. Williams has also worked as a business development specialist at Fidelity Information Services. She has experience in business planning, strategy and development.

“As vice president of the Springfield Animal Care and Rescue Club (SACARC) and a member of the Jacksonville Canine Obedience Club, Lynn already utilizes her business skills to help animals in our community,” said Leona Sheddan, executive director of JHS. “ Lynn’s extensive experience in customer, business and vendor relationship management coupled with her passion for animals will help us recruit and retain volunteers.”

In her role as vice president of SACARC, Williams was instrumental in a joint partnership with the City of Jacksonville to secure funds to build the first-ever City of Jacksonville dog park, which is now under construction.

As volunteer services manager at JHS, Williams oversees all volunteer activities, including administrative support, customer service, dog handling duties, foster parenting, kitty butlering (including socializing, kennel enrichment and play), special events assistance and thrift store work. JHS currently has more than 450 volunteers.

Williams is also responsible for developing and facilitating general orientation training and designing and implementing recognition and retention programs.
