The Jacksonville Humane Society Promotes Associate to Special Events Manager

Special events coordinator to plan animal education and welfare organization’s fundraisers

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (July 13, 2009) – The Jacksonville Humane Society (JHS) has promoted Brittany Burnes to the position of special events manager.

Burnes was the animal education and welfare center’s special events coordinator. She was responsible for managing silent auction donations, third-party fundraisers and assisting with special events. Burnes will now manage the organization’s three special events: the Trail of Tails Pet Walk & Festival, the Fur Ball and the Toast to the Animals wine tasting. She also hosts segments featuring adoptable pets on Comcast On Demand.

“Brittany is dedicated to raising money for the animals of the Jacksonville Humane Society,” said Leona Sheddan, executive director of JHS. “Brittany’s special event production experience will be a great asset to our fundraising efforts.”

Burnes is a graduate of Flagler College. She is a native of Jacksonville and adopted her first family dog from JHS more than 12 years ago.
