Purina Pets for People Program

We are fortunate enough to be part of Nestle Purina’s “Pets for People” program. This program subsidizes our annual program and allows a limited number of senior citizens over the age of 60 to adopt a pet six years or older for free each month. The program pays for the adoption fees which includes the cost of spaying and neutering, initial inoculations, heartworm pre-screen for dogs and feline leukemia testing for cats and a microchip identification which are all done before the animal leaves the shelter. Donations are always welcome but not required.

Humane Education

We have education programs available by appointment for all age groups and organizations. Tours are also available. We participate in the National Association for Humane and Environmental Education Kind News newsletter available for school classes. Ask about the adopt a teacher program. For more info: e-mail us.

Pet Therapy

We have a pet therapy program available for animal visitations to nursing care facilities and hospitals. This program is supported strictly by volunteers. All programs are done by appointment. For more info: e-mail us.
