FREE Big Dog Adoptions

Jacksonville Humane Society Bracing for Cold Weather

Jacksonville, FL (Tuesday, March 14, 2017) The Jacksonville Humane Society (JHS) is encouraging the public to consider adoption during the next three days of cold weather with a special adoption promotion – NorFREEster Adoptions! All dogs currently housed in JHS’ outdoor kennels can be adopted for free beginning today, Tuesday, March 14th through Thursday, March 16th.

JHS is currently constructing the new JHS Adoption, Community Resource and Education Center, which will open later this year. The new building will house all pets indoors in a climate-controlled environment for the first time in JHS’ 132-year history. However, homes are still needed for dogs currently housed in the outdoor kennels during the current inclement weather.

“We have protocol to keep the dogs in our outdoor kennels safe and protected in the cold weather, but there is no greater warmth than the love of a new family,” said Denise Deisler, Executive Director of JHS. “We cannot wait until our new shelter building is complete and all of our animals will be housed indoors.”

All pets are spayed or neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated. The shelter will be open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. all three days of the special. Additional fees, including the $20 city license, may apply. JHS is located at 8464 Beach Blvd. in Jacksonville. Special adoption prices will continue into the weekend with a St. Patrick’s themed adoption special. More information is available on our website,
